    Quilling is an ancient technique traditionally using strips of rolled paper formed into varying shapes and then joined together to create volume or form. In this class, student will use strips of Art Clay fine silver paper type to create their shapes. These forms will then be attached in varying degrees to form pieces of jewelry which, when fired in a kiln, become filigree-like works of art in fine silver.

    Learn the art of photo-etching brass, copper, and silver by taking a printed image and transforming it into a permanently etched pattern on sheet metal. This course will first teach students how to transfer imagery onto a sheet of metal and then how to use both an acid bath and an electrolytic set-up to eat away the exposed metal, recreating the pattern on the metal's surface.

    Bezel settings are beloved for their sleek design and modern curves, often being featured at the center of jewelry to show off a gems unique qualities. In this one-day workshop, student will learn to properly set cabochon stones inside a bezel, as well as how to cut, carve, manipulate, and set their own handmade "gems" using vintage glass, celluloid, and plastic buttons. Additional techniques will be covered throughout the course, including micro-mosaic patterns using scrap button pieces, riveting, and decorative bezel making using hand files.

    Press and Peel Blue transfer paper is most commonly used to create a resist on the surface of metal before exposing it to an etching technique and for enameling applications in the form of decal transfers, resulting in black or brown imagery on the enamel.
