Loop-in-Loop Chain Making
Instructor: Ms. Ann Cahoon
Level: Intermediate to Advanced Requirements: Jewelry II or equivalent, and confidence at the torch Program: Spring Status: Closed Length: 2 Days Tuition: $ 395 Materials: TBA Date: April 26, 2008 - April 27, 2008 Time: 10:00 AM - 5:00 PM Location: Metalwerx
Loop-in-loop chains are one of the truly classical expressions of the goldsmiths art, fluid yet weighty, and delicate, with great strength. In this class we will explore all of the techniques involved in creating these beautiful structures.
Students will begin with a chain of basic construction, and progress to more complicated structures, as their knowledge of the process grows. We will cover coiling and cutting jump rings, fusing links, loop and loop construction, and finishing processes. We will also discuss the S Hook and Bayonette clasps, as well as terminations, with time permitting.
Prerequisite: Jewelry II or equivalent. Comfort and confidence at the torch required.
