Soldering In a Day

This course is an introduction and overview of soldering practices. Learn about using a torch, different gases, soldering techniques and tricks.
The first half of the day will be spent demonstrating several different soldering techniques for all to watch and learn. After lunch, students will get to practice and make samples of each skill demonstrated that morning as well as address situations/pieces they have questions about.
Perfect for those who are taking a beginning jewelry class and want more practice soldering or those are thinking about diving into jewelry making and have concerns about using a torch.
Materials & Tools
A $35 materials kit for this class, payable at the workshop, includes brass, copper, sterling jump rings, tubing, solder, sterling wire and sheet needed for samples. Additional soldering supplies will be available for purchase.
Students Should Bring
- Work you've made that you have questions about, problems, concerns. Please note: Based on student need and interest, the afternoon can be spent focusing further on addressing solutions to student projects.
- Saw blades/frame
- Favorite hand tools such as files, sanding sticks, etc.
