In just one-day learn to create your own unique sterling silver pendant. This class is perfect for beginners since very few tools are required.

Students will take a design and cut out or "pierce" the metal to showcase their pattern and finish it up with a texutured or polished surface. Specific skills include: sawing, filing, polishing, and texturing. If time permits, students will also learn to solder on a simple bail. Expect to leave with not only a finished piece of jewelry, but the skills needed to keep on working at home!

Materials & Tools

The materials fee of $30, payable when signing up, includes copper, silver, saw blades, and other items you'll need to complete your project and samples.

Students should bring:

  • Students should bring a chain or cord to hang their pendants when finished and a few ideas and designs to cut out.
  • Wet and dry sandpaper, 2 sheets each of 320, 400 and 600 grits
  • Sanding Sticks (paint stirring sticks are perfect)
  • Small hand towel
  • Tool box (shoe box, plastic tackle box, etc.)
  • Old tooth brush (for cleaning)
  • Ultra Fine Sharpie Point permanent marker
  • Sketchbook, pen and pencil for design ideas and taking notes

Students can bring (optional):

  • Needle file set (small files usually sold in 5 - 8 file sets)
  • Metal metric ruler (150mm, about 6inches)
  • 8-inch long Mill Bastard file
