Fabrication for Faceted Stone Setting
Instructor: Ms. Ann Cahoon
Level: Intermediate and above Requirements: Jewelry II or equivalent, and confidence at the torch Program: Fall Status: Closed Length: 3 Days Tuition: $ 450 Materials: $ 100 Date: October 09, 2009 - October 11, 2009 Location: Metalwerx
In this three day workshop, we will build a series of basic mountings for faceted gemstones. We will start with straight and tapered bezels, before moving on to partial bezels, ornamental prong settings, and even a basket head. Most exercises will be done with round and oval stones, but applications for fancy shapes will be discussed as well.
This is a great opportunity to greatly increase your understanding of the fabrication and function of different settings, and will challenge you to work with precision and accuracy.
Please note: the focus of this workshop is on fabrication, rather than setting, so even timid setters are most welcome!

The materials kit of $100, payable when signing up, includes sterling silver for fabricating all the settings, cz's, a charcoal block, and other items needed for projects.
