Chain Making
Instructor: Ms. Ann Cahoon
Level: Intermediate Requirements: Jewelry I or Equivalent Program: Fall Status: Closed Length: 9 Sessions Tuition: $ 425 Materials: $ 50 Date: September 29, 2010 - December 01, 2010 Time: Every Wednesday at 1:30 PM - 4:30 PM Location: Metalwerx
Students in this class will explore a number of different approaches to chain making through a series of structured exercises before undertaking a chain of their own design.
We will discuss traditional linked chains as well as loop-in-loop and crocheted chains, with a focus on repetitive soldering, fusing, and techniques specific to handling and working with wire. Clasps and terminations will be covered as time allows. This is a great opportunity to increase skill and confidence at the torch while examining one of jewelry's most fundamental forms.
This class is 9 sessions long. Each class meets for 3 hours. There will be no class on November 24. If a make-up class is necessary, it can be held on December 8, 2010.
