Jewelry II - Bezel Making for Cabochons
Instructor: Ms. Ann Cahoon
Level: Intermediate and above Requirements: Jewelry I or Equivalent Program: Spring Status: Closed Length: 9 Sessions Tuition: $ 400 Materials: $ 50 Date: April 17, 2008 - June 12, 2008 Time: Every Thursday at 6:00 PM - 9:00 PM Location: Metalwerx
While the bezel could be considered the most fundamental of all settings, it is also one of the most flexible and variable. In this class we will explore bezels and their many forms, starting with a classic box bezel and moving on to step bezels, partial bezels, irregular shapes, and bezels for non-conventional materials as time allows. Students will focus on accurate measurement, increasingly complex soldering, setting techniques, and designing with function in mind. A great opportunity to refine and build fundamental hand skills!
Prerequisite: Jewelry 1, also appropriate for intermediate students who have already taken Jewelry II who want a more comprehensive look at setting.
This class is 9 sessions long. Each session is 3 hours. If a make-up class is necessary, it will be held on July 19, 2008.
