In this class you will learn the basics of jewelry making. Techniques include, sawing, soldering, piercing, texture, annealing, roller printing, bezel setting, and studio safety. You will be amazed at what you can learn in this introductory class! Projects include a band ring and pendant with a set stone.

Open to all levels.

This class is 10 sessions long. Each session is 2.5 hours. There will be no class on November 23, 2010. If a make-up class is necessary, it will be held on December 7, 2010

Materials & Tools

The $50 Materials fee covers the cost of metals, wire, solder, and other basic supplies you will use to work on the projects for this class.

Students should bring:

  • Wet and dry sandpaper, 2 sheets each of 320, 400 and 600 grits
  • Sanding Sticks (paint stirring sticks are perfect)
  • Small hand towel
  • Tool box (shoe box, plastic tackle box, etc.)
  • Old tooth brush (for cleaning)
  • Metal metric ruler (150mm, about 6inches)
  • Needle file set (small files usually sold in 5 - 8 file sets)
  • Ultra Fine Sharpie Point permanent marker
  • 8-inch long Mill Bastard file
  • Small ball peen hammer (optional)
  • Sketchbook, pen and pencil for design ideas and taking notes
