Jewelry II
Instructor: Ms. Joy Raskin
Level: Beginner to Intermediate Requirements: Jewelry I or Equivalent Program: Winter Status: Open Tuition: $ 450 Materials: $ 50 Date: January 22, 2009 - April 02, 2009 Time: Every Thursday at 6:00 PM - 9:00 PM Location: Metalwerx
Jewelry II focuses on expanding your stone setting skills, such as making your own prong and tube settings for faceted stones, soldering, hammering techniques, findings, and handwoven chains in both classic loop in loop construction and knitting from a continuous strand of wire.
Some of the findings covered are hinges, hinged clasps, friction fit, the classic hook and eye clasp, toggle clasps, and ways to make the perfect ear wire. Tips on using assorted grinding and deburring wheels with the flex shafts will also be discussed.
There are several assigned technique based projects which continue to perfect your jewelry skills or if you wish, time to work on your own projects. For students who have their own independent projects, and wish to have access to an instructor for help and guidance, this is an excellent class for them. Designing and working on independent projects is strongly encouraged.
This class is 10 sessions long. Each session is 3 hours. There will be no class on February 19. If a make-up class is necessary, it will be held on April 9, 2009.
