| Mr. Brian Adam |

|
Brian Adam is a jeweller with an eye for fun. He is particularly interested in spectacles as adornment and a source for humor. He uses the malleable metals to make his spectacles frames, prepares his own alloys as needed and, in the design, mixes them up with gemstones and common industrial materials.
Brian and his wife, Ruth Baird, also a jeweller, live and work in Titirangi, Auckland, New Zealand. Trained first as a designer, in the late 60s, he soon enough realized he wanted to get his hands dirty and make everything himself. When faced with a design problem that needs solving, his usual method is to research a similar function in an unrelated area and apply it with a twist. Thanks to his wife and Warwick Freeman, he picked up some tricks of the trade and had his first solo show, "Face Furniture", in 1984.
