Ms. Karen Christians

Karen Christians:

Karen never thought she'd grow up to be a metalsmith. First a budding biologist, she was more interested in the pond scum under a slide than the world of art. In 1987 she took a jewelry course at the Cambridge Center for Adult Education and found the experience transforming. Several years later, she applied to the Massachusetts College of Art, where she obtained a Bachelor of Fine Arts in 1997. She never lost her love of science, which is now one of the foci for her art.

Together with a partner, Karen founded Metalwerx in October, 1998. She is currently the sole owner and operator.

Wendy Jo New:

Wendy is a Studiomate at Metalwerx who creates contemporary jewelry and other metal designs primarily in silver and/or gold, often with the addition of texturing, gemstones and other unique lapidary, or resin inlay. She also manufactures photo-etched metal cover plates which are riveted to journals or albums with handmade rivets. Wendy sells her work through word of mouth and by commission.

Wendy has a website.
