Mr. Doug Zaruba

Doug Zaruba is a graduate gemologist, master goldsmith, jewelry designer, manufacturer, retailer, consultant to the trade and all around metals wizard. Beginning with a five-year German apprenticeship, Doug's career has had many incarnations, including work as a model maker for the Franklin Mint and his own wholesale and retail manufacturing.

Doug is known for his fresh, contemporary interpretation of classical design. Reflected in the clean, modern lines of his jewelry are the balance, proportion, and textures of ancient civilizations. While training as a painter and sculptor, Douglas Zaruba became interested in the concept of jewelry as wearable sculpture. "Jewelry is three-dimensional sculpture as well as kinetic sculpture. It is site-specific sculpture in that it must fit in harmony with the human form. Jewelry originated as a symbol of power and is an intimate repository of ideals and values."
